What is growth paper?

This special paper contains seeds that, when planted and watered in the ground, germinate and grow into flowers, herbs or plants. Can you print growing paper?

Yes, growing paper can be printed, but it requires special techniques to avoid damaging the germination of the seeds. Traditional printing methods with a lot of heat or chemical inks can be harmful to the seeds. Therefore, printing is often used:

  • Digital printing techniques which do not crush the seeds.

When designing printing on growth paper, it is smart to consider light colours and less ink consumption to preserve the natural texture and visible seeds.

Is growing paper sustainable?

Absolutely! Growth paper is one of the most eco-friendly papers available. This is due to several reasons:

  • Biodegradable: The paper completely decomposes in the soil and leaves no harmful residues.
  • Made of recycled material: Often, waste paper or cotton fibres are used instead of cutting down new trees.

How long does growing paper last?

  • Airtight storage: Prevents seeds from drying out or going mouldy.

Generally, growing paper lasts between 1 and 2 years, depending on the type of seeds it contains.

What are the seeds in growing paper?
